WITCHBLOOD belong to a rare breed of black metal that have somehow managed to go almost entirely unnoticed in the metal underground. The project of Iron Meggido, who provides vocals and all of the instruments except drums, which are provided by a revolving cast of skinsmen. "Sorceress Of The Black Sun" has a interesting and quite original approach to infusing furious black metal riffs with a distinctly dark, and folky melodic sensibility, while not really being anything that could be described as "folk metal". WITCHBLOOD also conveys an apocalyptic doom vibe that carries over even into the faster riffs. We recommend "Sorceress Of The Black Sun" to those who are in need of a fix of heavy, aggressive black metal which focuses on memorable, groove-laden riffs.
